  1. Know the procedure for using this online interactive textbook.

Layout of the Pages

Each page of this online interactive textbook has a list of the competencies you will be learning or demonstrating in the blue column to the left.

In this white column is the text explaining the skills or the activities you will perform to practice the skills.

At the top and bottom of the page are rows of buttons you may use to navigate the lessons:

Click on the "Previous" button to go to the previous lesson. It will not take you to the previous page you were on. Use the "Back" and "Forward" buttons on your browser to go to the previous page or next page. As you know, the "Forward" button on your browser will only work if you have already gone to a page, then back to the previous page so there is a next page to go to.

Click on the "Next" button to go to the next lesson. It will not take you to the next page in the lesson you are on.

Click on the "Menu" button to return to the Table of Contents for the online interactive textbook.

Click on the "Question" button to send an e-mail to your instructor. The e-mail program you use will appear so you can type your question.

Parts of the Online Interactive Textbook

The Recording and Writing Meeting Minutes online interactive textbook has two parts: lessons and competency examinations. When you open a lesson by clicking on its name in the lesson menu, you will go to the lesson text. Read the lesson text to learn about the skills.

Complete the lessons in sequence. When you come to a competency examination, complete the examination. Fill out the form asking for your e-mail address and name. Your examinations will be e-mailed to your instructor after you finish them and click on a "Finished" button.

Demonstration of Competence

This course is competency-based. That means that you are required to show that you have the skills taught in a lesson. You will do that in the writing competency examinations.

The course includes four competency examinations.
