BWC100 Basic Grammar for Business and
BWC130 Individualized Writing for Nonnative Speakers of English
This combination of BWC100 and BWC130 is ideal because BWC100 teaches all the basic grammar rules and BWC110 focuses on the skills you need to write clear, well-organized documents. Tuition is discounted from the $640 for the courses taken individually to $595. You have four months to complete each course, meaning you have a total of eight months to complete both.

BWC100 Basic Grammar for Business

The Basic Grammar for Business course is for people who have a good command of the English language, but would like to have an in-depth knowledge of grammar. The course is an in-depth survey, meaning that it covers all of the major rules of grammar and usage in depth. You will go through a large part of a grammar textbook during the course.

As with the other Business Writing Center courses, the course has lessons like a college course. It is self-pacing, so you decide when to work. Your instructor will coach you through learning any skills you haven't mastered.

BWC130 Individualized Writing for Nonnative Speakers of English

The Individualized Writing for Nonnative Speakers of English is for nonnative speakers of English who have problems in language, phrases, grammar, punctuation, spelling, word usage, or sentence structure. The course will help you polish your English usage by learning new patterns to replace the old by using your own sentences as examples. The teaching, practice, and tests are based on your own writing as much as possible. It is highly individualized. The instructor carefully evaluates writing samples and prescribes study and practice based on your unique needs. You work on only the specific skills you need to learn, at your own pace. You have unlimited access to the instructor to ask questions.

The course has four thorough course cycles in it, much like four smaller courses. For each, you will send writing samples to your instructor. Your instructor will read each sample thoroughly, identify skills you need to learn, list the sentences with problems in each area with corrections showing how they should have been written, assign readings from the grammar textbook, answer any questions you have about the skills, have you practice the skills, and give you an online quiz containing sentences from your original writing sample that you must correct in ten minutes to be sure you have learned the skills. That comprises a full cycle of analysis of your writing and training in all the writing skills we identify that you need. You will go through four full cycles of this work to identify as many problems in your writing as we can and teach you the skills you need.

The Individualized Writing for Nonnative Speakers of English course uses the same textbook as the Basic Grammar for Business course.

Tuition for the two courses is $595.
